TURKISH COAST

The Lycian Coast in the Aegean & Mediterranean Seas - 8 day Itinerary

DAY 1: Join your yacht in Marmaris, the center of yachting tourism in the Eastern
Mediterranean. After lunch on deck, explore the local bazaar. Sail across
Marmaris Bay in the afternoon and anchor in a quiet cove for a swim. Dinner ashore at a quaint Turkish restaurant or aboard under the stars.

DAY 2: After a leisurely breakfast, sail out of Marmaris Bay and head south to Ekincik, a protected bay, ideal for water sports. Take the path along the water's edge to a small beach. The restaurant here is one of the best on the coast and offers spectacular views of the bay.

DAY 3: This morning, take the local tripper boat up the winding river as far as the town of Dalyan. After a meander through the town and lunch riverside, join the same boat for a trip across to the ruins of ancient Caunos where you can wander through the ruins of a 20,000 seat theater, several temples, bath, fountains and tombs. Return to your yacht and move to a quiet bay for dinner on board.

DAY 4: Head southwards again and stop for lunch in a bay with a small deserted beach and caves. In the afternoon head down to Fethiye Bay and spend the night in Turquoise Cove. This bay is one of the best for snorkeling, with crystal clear waters, offering many underwater ledges and cliffs which fall straight into the sea.

DAY 5: After breakfast, take the cliff-side path to the ruins of the ancient city of Lidya, about an hour's walk away. The views from the cliff top are breathtaking. After lunch, a brisk passage across the bay to Fethiye town. Dinner ashore in one of the many good restaurants.

DAY 6: After breakfast, walk through Fethiye town and explore the fresh fish and local produce market. Back to your yacht for a passage to a nearby cove for swimming, then off southwards again to anchor for the night behind Gemiler Island. Ashore are numerous Byzantine ruins for exploration. Of particular interest are the ancient loading bays for the old port, which come right down into the sea.

DAY 7: A swim before breakfast and then head back across Fethiye Bay into the inland sea known as Skopea Limani, in which there are many beautiful
Bays to anchor for lunch and a swim. After an afternoon passage, tie up for the night in Cleopatra's Bay, so named because of the old bath house built there, which is reportedly to have been used by Cleopatra when she escaped with Mark Anthony. A final dinner under the stars on board.

DAY 8: After breakfast, a short sail to Gocek for disembarkation.
